Introduction and purpose: Coronary heart disease of intercity bus drivers can be dangerous not only for the health of the drivers themselves but also for all passengers using the intercity transport service. Knowledge of the symptoms of coronary heart disease can help with the prevention of heart failure of the affected drivers as well as its timely diagnosis and treatment. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the awareness of the symptoms of coronary artery disease amongst Kashan intercity bus drivers in 2019.
Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 131 intercity bus drivers in Kashan. In this research, a fourteen-questions researcher-made questionnaire was used, which was approved by six cardiologists and one health education specialist. After collecting the data, it was analyzed using SPSS software version 26. Statistical analysis was done using descriptive tables and independent t-test and ANOVA.
Results: The findings showed that most of the drivers had a weak (55%) or moderate (44.3%) awareness of the symptoms of coronary artery disease, and only one person had a good level of awareness.
Conclusion: In general, according to the results of this study, it is necessary to take measures to increase the awareness of intercity bus drivers about the signs and symptoms of coronary heart diseases.–. In particular, such awareness can help with the prevention of affected drivers’ heart stroke, helping as well as the safety of the passengers of intercity buses.
