Aims: Infertility is Non-fertilization of a couple after a year of regular sexual contact without using contraceptive methods. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group reality therapy instruction of social adjustment and rumination rate in infertile women.
Materials & Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted with pre-test post-test with control group. The statistical population of this study included all infertile women referred to the Sarem Infertility Treatment Center in Tehran during 2017-2018. Using purposive sampling method along with screening, 30 infertile women were selected and divided into two experimental and control groups (15 subjects for each group). For the experimental group, a course of real-therapeutic training program was held in 8 sessions of 90 minutes for 2 months. The instruments used in this research were Social Wellness and Rhubarb Noulen-Huxma Social Adjustment Questionnaires. The data were analyzed by SPSS software using one-way analysis of covariance.
Findings: There was a significant difference between the mean scores of social adjustment (F=86.38; p=0.001) and rumination (F=59.08; p=0.001) in the post-test after training the reality therapy between the experimental and control groups, in such a way that the social adjustment of the experimental group increased compared with the control group and their rumination decreased.
Conclusion: Training group reality therapy is effective in the level of social adjustment and rumination in infertile women.
