Submission Instruction

The Sarem Journal of Medicine (SJM) as an open-access scientific journal is an independent multi-Disciplinary publication in biomedical area that scheduled to appear quarterly and publishes peer reviewed original articles, review articles, case reports, case series, medical history research, biomedical philosophy articles. & Medical ethics. Researchers / authors interested in publishing their work in SJM are strongly advised to read carefully and follow the uniform requirements for manuscripts
submitted to SJM (it must be note that, the review process & publish of the accepted papers in SJM done without any charge):

• The corresponding author must submit a cover letter on behalf of other authors that its publication has been approved by all its authors and coauthors and has not been previously published, or is it under consideration for publication elsewhere.

• Manuscripts should comply with the ethical standard recommended by the Helsinki Declaration.

• The manuscript should be written in clear and concise Persian (abstract should be in English). All manuscripts should be type double-spaced on one side of A4 size paper and the entire manuscript should not exceed more than ten pages using Microsoft Word for word processing. The suggested font is «Times New Roman» size-12.

• Authors can submit their manuscript online (in the above addressed specific website) or posted five copies of the compact discs containing the manuscripts to the editorial office.

• Overally, articles include title page, abstract with key words, introduction, body of the paper (subheading are based on the article type; case presentation or materials & methods, results, discussion, conclusion), acknowledgement, references, tables, figures and legends with regard to page numbering.

• Title page should include title, full name (s) of the author (s) and their affiliation (s) and their contact information including full mailing address, E-mail, phone and fax numbers. Case reports / Case series: These manuscripts are short reports of original studies or evaluations or unique, first-time reports of clinical case series & should have following headings: abstract, introduction, case presentation, discussion & conclusion. Case reports should have a structured abstract (less than 125 words) using the following headings: introduction, case presentation, conclusion and key words (based on MeSH).

Review articles: papers which report any authoritative reviews or descriptions of new ideas. These types of articles should have the following headings: abstract (less than 300 words, using the following headings; Introduction, Methods, Conclusion & Keywords), introduction, methodology, discussion, conclusion and references. For review articles, according to the standards of the journal, at least one of the authors must be expert on the relevant filed and the authors must have published at least two research articles relevant to the topic of the review article and cite them in the manuscript.

Original articles: These papers should include title page, abstract with key words, introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgement, references, tables, figures, and legends with regard to page numbering.

 -Abstract should not be more than 250 words and include Backgrounds & Aim(s), materials & methods, results, conclusion and key words. (consider that the original historical, phylosophical & ethical research papers abstracts should include; Background & aims, Material and methods, Discussion, Conclusion & Keywords).

 -Introduction should be written on a new page with a brief account of the background work and clear statement of the aims and purposes.

-Materials and methods section should list patients' characteristics, materials and sources and concisely describe methods and procedures used.

-Results: Legends for graphs and illustrations should be written on separate pages. Tables should be numbered with roman numerals and a brief title should be typed above each table. Figures / tables should not be larger than 18 x 12 cm.

-Discussion: the discussion should be as concise as possible and be based on the data presented.

- Conclasion: in the conclusion, the author might restate his thesis and summarize the main points of evidence for the readers in one or two paragraphs.

• Acknowledgment section should include any grant or support received.


• References: the authors are responsible for the accuracy of the bibliographic information. References should be numbered in the order of text citations. References must conform to the Vancouver Style. References should be in English language. For the Persian references, the reference title should be in square brackets […] and then the word Persian should be noted out side it.


• The right is reserved to incorporate any changes deemed necessary by the editorial board to make contributions harmonize with the editorial standards of the journal.


• Conflict of Interest: As an integral part of the submission process, corresponding authors are required to confirm whether they or their coauthors have any conflicts of interest to declare, and to provide details of these. If the corresponding author is unable to confirm this information on behalf of all coauthors, the authors in question will then be required to submit a completed Conflict of Interest Form to the Editorial Office. It is the corresponding author’s responsibility to ensure that all authors adhere to this policy. If the manuscript is published, Conflict of Interest information will be communicated in a statement in the published paper.


• Peer Review Process: The editorial board first reviews the manuscripts to ensure their relevance to the aims and scopes of the journal. The editors also exclude the manuscripts if they have major faults in the research methodology. Peer reviews will be performed by at least two renowned experts on the subject, Reviews are then forwarded to the corresponding authors for suggested modifications /correction, and the new version of the manuscript will be peer reviewed for a second time by the reviewers who carried out the initial review to make sure their comments are addressed. Finally the editorial board will decide to accept or reject the article.
